On this special concert evening, the works of Johannes Brahms will be the focus of attention!

"Brahms has a strong emotional meaning for me. As a pianist I played him a lot - his intermezzi and sonatas. ...] I have been working with the four symphonies since my youth and am therefore very happy about the opportunity to conduct them at the Konzerthaus right from the beginning," says Konzerthaus chief conductor Christoph Eschenbach about the composer.

His highly virtuoso violin concerto of 1879 is played by the young violinist Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, who has won several prizes at the Jean Sibelius violin competition in 2015.

It is combined with the last and only Symphony No. 4 in minor key. The great violinist and friend of Brahms and Joseph Joachim, who had already premiered the Violin Concerto, was particularly taken with the Fourth at the first Berlin performance in 1886: "It has become deeper and deeper into the soul of me and the orchestra."

Info: Konzerthaus Berlin

The Konzerthaus Berlin is located in one of the city's most beautiful squares, the Gendarmenmarkt. Just like the square, the house itself has a long and varied tradition. Built in 1821 by Karl Friedrich Schinkel in classicist style as a playhouse, it was reopened as a concert hall in 1984 after its destruction in the Second World War. The former Schauspielhaus has been known as the Konzerthaus since 1994.
