Eat German in Berlin

What do you think of when you hear German cuisine? As a Berliner of course immediately on potatoes, sauerkraut, meatball and knuckle of pork! There is also hardly a country with so many different kinds of bread. Surely you have mourned the good German black bread during a longer stay abroad, especially there, where the typical kitchen only knows white bread! Of course we fulfil all the international clichés with the above mentioned dishes: the German likes to be hearty, lots of potatoes and even more meat! But the German cuisine is more like sauerbraten, Schäufele, Haxn, Klöße, Spätzle, Saumagen or Labskaus!
In our country is just like everywhere else in the world: the regional cuisine lives from the regional specialties! And there are plenty of them in Germany: from Thuringian bratwurst to Spreewald cucumber, from Lübeck marzipan to Bautz'n mustard, from Äppelwoi to Kölsch, from Kiel sprats to Nürnberger Würstchen or from Aachener Printen to the Bavarian Maß!
And in today's global and mobile world there is, of course, a Hofbräuhaus in Berlin as well. You can eat in the middle of our town in the Black Forest parlours, order Swabian Spätzle, buy Saxon egg cheeses, order Handkäs with music for beer, Frankfurter Grüne Soß', Rollmops, Matjes or Grünkohl seasonally!
