An abstract work of art serves as a catalyst for the author Yasmina Reza, with the help of which she analyzes a psychologically finely drawn situation that puts three men, their feelings, their sensitivities, their friendship and indeed their entire existence to date to the test. "Art" was Yasmina Reza's first global success and has been translated into over 40 languages. The German-language premiere of the comedy took place in 1995 with a star-studded cast during Andrea Breth's directorship at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz.

Johannes Hallervorden took over as artistic director of the Thater am Frankfurter Tor in June 2023. The theater offers space for 99 spectators.
