The string quartet "Die Nixen" bids farewell to the old year musically in the Konzerthaus Berlin!
The four musicians of the Nixen are members of renowned orchestras and have already played under conductors such as Claudio Abado, Sir Simon Rattle, Zubin Mehta. In addition to classical education, they have always been interested in other repertoires as well as pop and jazz. With their ensemble "Die Nixen" the string players present everything that inspires them.
In their New Year's Eve concert "Die Nixen" swim on their dives stylistically confident through the most diverse genres, from classical to film music, jazz, pop and rock with passion, musicality, joy of playing and groove.
As their namesakes, the water spirits glide through the ocean of music without being pinned down and are therefore not to be pigeonholed. Bach's purity imperceptibly becomes a song by Sting, Händel emerges at the end with Michael Jackson, a classical duet is brought out of its form and becomes U2, only to return to its origins as if in the cycle of nature.
All pieces relate to the life of the mermaids and tell a story: Whether a sailor song is reinterpreted, the bangles are stroking them through the desert like an Egyptian caravan, their voice is used to the melancholic Nancy Sinatra song or Dvorák's Rusalka at the end Cha-Cha Cha is dancing.
The personal encounters with well-known musicians flow in, whether with John Miles or Udo Jürgens, the mermaids tastefully combine their musical experiences and swim through an ocean of emotions with their audience. EMOCEAN is a colourful, virtuoso, musical cocktail in which exquisite ingredients melt into a new taste experience.
Composition: Rahel Rilling (violin), Katharina Wildhagen (violin), Kristina Labitzke (viola) and Nikola Spingler (cello)
