Visit the Wilhelm Foerster Observatory at the Insulaner!

The Planetarium at the Insulaner with its magnificent artificial starry sky can be found at the foot of the hill of the same name. Here visitors can experience fascinating 360-degree events, live astronomical lectures, radio plays, readings, music shows as well as children's programs. On a clear day at the Wilhelm Foerster Observatory, you can look through the large telescopes with your own eyes and observe numerous celestial objects.

The Planetarium am Insulaner & the Wilhelm-Foerster-Sternwarte have been operated by the Wilhelm-Foerster-Sternwarte e.V. association since their foundation in 1965 and 1963 respectively. Under a 20-metre dome, 291 visitors can sit in comfortable deckchairs. In the centre of the hall there is a Zeiss Vb star projector (which can be lowered into the floor), manufactured in Oberkochen. The projector has been technically overhauled several times and is still in use today.
